Golden Fable at SXSW 2015

It's one day before there main show.  But we stopped by the British Music Embassy to get free food and drinks and what do you know!  We caught this awesome group.  They compare to Moby, with deep throws and enchanting melodies.  The female vocal sound is sweet.

Girlpool

Off beaten path to see Girlpool.  They are on the official schedule, but we had to balance the schedule and compromise.  Check out girlpool, a two girl band with heavy guitar sound.

While we were waiting in line at Central Presbyterian Church for this session, a women began to groan.  She had stepped on a frog.  She was really upset and said she had never killed anything before.  Understandably, this is a big deal.   So I told her the frog wasn't wearing a badge or a wristband and shouldn't have been in line. I thanked her for providing us with a ribbitting experience. Think I helped.

Anyway, Brandi is pretty popular.  I've heard at least one of her songs on the radio.

This show turned out to be a beautiful performance; all acoustic and microphones. Nice job Brandi!

Being tall has a great advantage when getting a band pic. Not sure about this group. Too hard on the guitar for me and a lot of mumbling in the mic

I really like their sound.  A low range, slow vocal backed by rapid drums and the backup cord on the treble guitar...then suddenly the whole band kicks in with vocals and an extra guitar and bass.

Second song sounds like something you'd here on Sixteen Candles; another steady, driving beat fronted by a deep and low vocal.   Wow!

The closest thing I can compare it to is a muffled Jesus and the Mary Chains.

Heard their sound as we were walking in to Maggie Mae's.   They were wrapping up with a very power driven song.  Have to check them out when I get home.

Arriving late.  A fast, rock sound.
